Dixie L. Petersen teaches children's literature and reading/language arts-related classes in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Wichita State University. Dixie has presented at conferences and in-services at the local, state, regional and national levels. In 1995, Dixie received the Wichita State University Excellence in Teaching Award and was named recipient of the College of Education teaching award at WSU. Dixie's book Character Building is the winner of a 1997 Learning® Magazine Teachers' Choice Award.
